Overview

FILA PW10 is a pre-laying treatment that goes on the back of tiles and absorbent paving slabs to block efflorescence. Salts, tannins, and oxides get stopped before they can travel through to the surface, so streaks and staining never get the chance to form. It’s water-based, VOC-free, and leaves the material free to breathe once treated.

Apply PW10 to the back of the tile or slab before laying, not after. This pre-treatment step is what stops rising damp and salts at the source, rather than trying to fix staining once it’s already surfaced.

  • Blocks contaminants from rising through the substrate, stopping stains and streaks before they form
  • Leaves no surface film, so treated materials continue to breathe
  • Meets UNI EN 1348-2009 and ASTM C482-02 R-2009 standards without compromising glue adhesion
  • Water-based and VOC-free, with an A+ rating under French VOC regulation
  • Suitable for use on floors and most absorbent surfaces
  • When applied post-laying, it also guards against blackening caused by pollution, carbonation, sulphation, and biodeterioration
  • Back of natural stone
  • Granite
  • Marble
  • Agglomerates
  • Terracotta and other absorbent materials

How to use guide or featured videos

1. Does FILA PW10 affect how well the tile adheres to the substrate?

Adhesion was put to the test under UNI EN 1348 and ASTM C482 standards, and the glue’s bonding properties held up. There’s no extra adjustment needed for laying methods because of it.

2. Why treat the back of the tile instead of the surface?

Staining and efflorescence start underneath, where salts and contaminants work their way up from the substrate. Treating the back cuts off that path before it ever reaches the face of the tile.

3. Is this product safe to use indoors?

PW10 skips solvents entirely, which is why it carries an A+ rating under French VOC regulation. For anyone laying tile in bedrooms, living areas, or other enclosed spaces, that rating is one less thing to worry about.

4. Will PW10 trap moisture behind the tile?

The material stays breathable after treatment because PW10 doesn’t sit on top as a film. Moisture that would otherwise get trapped behind the tile and eventually cause blistering or lifting has a way to escape instead.

5. How long does the protection last once applied?

Once applied, PW10 is backed by a 30-year international warranty. The protection against efflorescence is designed to hold for the life of the installation, not just the first few years.
